Man Can't Pick Up Marriage License Due To Gov't Furloughs
Nervous grooms-to-be may have a new excuse to put off their nuptials at the last minute. A man in Milwaukee, Wisconsin was surprised when he stopped by the County Clerk's office to pick up his marriage license on a Friday only to find it closed. The "Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel" reports Tony Lopac - whose wedding was the following day at 1 p.m. - panicked when security guards told him the office was closed for the day due to furloughs. Lopac said his first thoughts were, quote, "Oh, my God, what am I gonna do?" Luckily, a nearby librarian called John Barrett, the Milwaukee County Clerk of Circuit Court. Barrett - in turn - got an official in charge of marriage licenses on the phone and they located Lopac's essential document. Lopac was thrilled that everything worked out, saying that his bride-to-be wouldn't have been happy if he'd failed to get their marriage license.
