The iconic children's program "Sesame Street" is honoring a milestone this week. Beginning on Tuesday, the show will celebrate its 40th anniversary on the air. In honor of their four decades on TV, "Sesame Street" will kick-off the season with a guest appearance from First Lady Michelle Obama. Other big name celebrities scheduled to stop by the set this season include actors Hugh Jackman and Cameron Diaz, and NBA superstar Kobe Bryant. "Sesame Street" first began entertaining and educating children on November 10th, 1969. After reaching only one-point-nine-million households in its first broadcast, "Sesame Street" has gone on to become of the most recognizable shows in U.S. television history. The series is now seen by approximately eight-million American viewers each week, and is broadcast in more than 120 countries."Sesame Street" has also spawned some of the most celebrated children's characters of all time. "Sesame Street" residents Big Bird, Kermit the Frog, and the Cookie Monster are just a few of the show's regulars who have gone on to achieve mainstream success. "Sesame Street" has also played host to some of the biggest names in the world of entertainment, sports and politics. "A-Listers" like Michael Jackson, Jay Leno, Hilary Clinton, Bill Cosby and David Beckham have all made appearances on the show.
