Carrie Underwood Amazed With CMA Nominations

Carrie Underwood says she's thrilled with her two Country Music Association Award nominations -- Female Vocalist of the Year and Musical Event of the Year for her collaboration with Randy Travis on Travis' "I Told You So." If Underwood takes the Female Vocalist title she'll mark her fourth consecutive win in the category, and tie with Reba McEntire and Martina McBride for the most wins in the category. She'll also join Reba as the only woman to take the award four years in a row. But Underwood says she's astonished just to be considered alongside McEntire for the award. Underwood says she's also excited to be nominated with Randy Travis, who's another musical idol of hers. She adds that she's hoping he'll get the nod for Song of the Year courtesy of her rendition of "I Told You So." It's Travis' second shot at the award with that particular song. He wrote and recorded "I Told You So" in 1988, and that year it earned him CMA nominations for Single and Song of the Year. At the event 21 years ago, it was Kathy Mattea who captured Single of the Year with "Eighteen Wheels And A Dozen Roses," and Song of the Year honors went to K.T. Oslin and her hit "80's Ladies." The 43rd annual CMA Awards, which Underwood will co-host with Brad Paisley, will take place in Nashville on Wednesday, airing live on ABC at 8:00 p.m. Eastern.
