Trace Adkins Honored To Record Song For Waylon Tribute Disc

Trace Adkins says it was a "true honor" to contribute to the new Waylon Jennings tribute album. Trace puts his own distinctive vocals on the 1973 hit "You Asked Me To" for "The Music Inside, Volume 1: A Collaboration Dedicated to Waylon Jennings," which he cut with members of Jennings' former backing group, Waymore's Blues Band. Adkins says working with those particular musicians was "very special," because they "helped bring life to this great music." He adds that the session is, quote, "something I'll always remember.'' Jamey Johnson, Randy Houser, and James Otto are also featured on the ten-track collection, along with Kris Kristofferson, Patty Griffin, Alabama, Sunny Sweeney, and members of Waylon's family -- his widow Jessi Colter and son Shooter Jennings.

Sunday marked the eighth anniversary of Waylon's passing. He died on February 13th, 2003 of complications related to diabetes at the age of 64.
