Just The Facts: African-American Coaches

Today in 2007, Tony Dungy and Lovie Smith made history by becoming the first African-American NFL head coaches to lead their teams to the Super Bowl. Here are some more facts about other famous African-American coaches:

FACT: Boston Celtics head coach Doc Rivers was named the NBA Coach of the Year in 2000.
FACT: In 2009, Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin became the youngest coach to lead his team to a win in the Super Bowl at the age of 36.
FACT: Legendary college basketball coach John Thompson became the first African-American coach to win a major collegiate championship when he lead Georgetown University to an NCAA title in 1984.
FACT: Former NBA coach Lenny Wilkens has been inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame three times.
