"30 Rock" Star Alec Baldwin Eyes Politics Down The Road

Is America ready for President Alec Baldwin? The "30 Rock" actor says he's committed to his "day job" as an in-demand actor at the moment, but admits he's eyeing politics down the road. When asked if he'd like to run for office on Tuesday's edition of CNN's "Parker Spitzer," the 52-year-old said, quote, "Yes, it's something that I'm very, very interested in." Like a true politician, the Golden Globe-winner quickly tempered his response, saying of his current life in showbiz, quote, "To quit now when it really feels good and doing it feels good would be an enormously difficult thing to do."

If Baldwin proceeds with his plans, he won't be the first American celebrity to make the leap from acting to politics. Former U.S. President Ronald Reagan, former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, and former U.S. Senator from Tennessee Fred Thompson all made the transition.
