Seven Deputies Suspended After Brawl At Holiday Party

(Los Angeles, CA) -- Seven Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies were relieved of duty without pay this week following reports of a brawl that broke out at a Christmas party last Friday night in Montebello. The party was held for employees of the Men's Central Jail at the Quiet Cannon banquet hall, according to the "Los Angeles Times." Montebello Police responded to a 911 call shortly before midnight. Two people were injured but no one was hospitalized and there were no arrests. Michael Gennaco, the chief attorney for the sheriff department's Office of Independent Review, called the incident an embarrassment.
