Man Stiffed With Funny Money Sues Bank
(Port Orange, FL) -- A lawsuit has been filed by a Port Orange, Florida man who says his bank gave him three counterfeit 100-dollar bills and now won't take them back. The "Daytona Beach News-Journal" reports that 77-year-old Richard Spitz filed the suit against Bank of America in small claims court. Spitz says he collected rent from tenants and took the cash to the bank for larger bills that would be easier to carry. When he later tried to deposit the cash, the teller told him some of the bills were counterfeit. Spitz is suing the bank and the bank manager. A Bank of America spokeswoman declined to comment, citing the pending litigation.
