Television said goodbye to a broadcasting legend on Thursday night. CNN talk-show host Larry King stepped in front of the camera for the last installment of "Larry King Live." An emotional King greeted fans one final time to start his show with, quote, "Welcome to the 'Last Larry King Live.' It's hard to say that. I knew this day was coming, these words are not easy to say." Thursday night's finale featured a star-studded collection of guest appearances. Comedian Bill Maher and "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest joined King for the entire broadcast, while famous faces like Regis Philbin, Donald Trump, Diane Sawyer, Brian Williams, Katie Couric, and Barbara Walters took time to remember King's incredible career. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger also stopped by to declare December 16th "Larry King Day," while president Barack Obama and former president Bill Clinton popped in to say farewell. Tony Bennett closed the show with a special performance live from Louisiana.
The final episode of "Larry King Live" also featured a running scroll that included kind comments from fans and admirers. Piers Morgan will take over for Larry King next month when he premieres the new show "Piers Morgan Tonight."
