Willie Nelson Calling For Legalization Of Marijuana

Willie Nelson's recent arrest hasn't changed his mind about marijuana. In an e-mail sent over the weekend to CelebStoner, the country legend calls for an overhaul in America's drug laws. He notes, quote, "Tax it, regulate it and legalize it. And stop the border wars over drugs. Why should the drug lords make all the money? Thousands of lives will be saved." He even suggests forming a new political party around the issue, saying, quote, "There's the Tea Party. How about the Teapot Party? Our motto: We lean a little to the left." The "Willie Nelson's Teapot Party" Facebook page was established on Sunday.

Nelson was arrested at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas on Friday, after agents reportedly found six ounces of marijuana on his tour bus. He was taken into custody and released several hours later after posting 25-hundred dollars bond. California-based prosecutor Robin Sax tells FoxNews.com that Nelson could be charged with felony drug possession in connection with the arrest. Sax notes a conviction carries a maximum sentence of two years in jail and a ten-thousand-dollar fine.
