Willie Nelson Arrested For Marijuana Possession

Willie Nelson is facing drug charges stemming from his arrest at a border patrol checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas on Friday. According to "The El Paso Times," agents at the checkpoint reportedly found six ounces of marijuana on Nelson's tour bus which was reportedly en route from California to Austin, Texas where the singer owns a ranch. Nelson allegedly admitted the marijuana was his and was taken to a local county jail. He posted 25-hundred dollars bond and was freed a few hours after his arrest. A longtime advocate of legalizing marijuana, Nelson, 77, has had a number of brushes with the law related to pot possession over the years.

In January of this year, six of Nelson's band members were issued citations in North Carolina for alleged possession of marijuana and moonshine. Nelson and his tour manager were also fined and served six months of probation after Louisiana authorities seized almost one-and-a-half pounds of marijuana and hallucinogenic mushrooms from the singer's tour bus in 2006.
