Chilean Miner Completes NYC Marathon

The Chilean miner who spent 69 days trapped underground with 32 other miners is putting another grueling challenge behind him. Just three weeks after his rescue from the harrowing ordeal, Edison Peña completed Sunday's New York City Marathon in five hours and 51 minutes. TMZ.com says Peña overcame severe knee pain to finish the race. Peña was dubbed "the runner" by his fellow miners while trapped underground because he jogged up to six miles a day in the darkness to keep in shape before they were rescued. Upon hearing his unique story and watching the rescue operation that was televised around the world, the New York Road Runners organization extended an invitation to Peña to run in the 2010 New York City Marathon.

Last week, Peña charmed audiences who tuned in to Thursday night's episode of CBS' "Late Show With David Letterman." The 34-year-old broke out into his best impersonation of one of his musical heros, Elvis Presley.
