NBC opens a new chapter in the "Law & Order" franchise tonight with the series premiere of "Law & Order: Los Angeles." Created and produced by "L&O" mastermind Dick Wolf, "Los Angeles" is the fifth spin-off of the original flagship series, "Law & Order," which ended a record-tying 20-season run in May. It follows "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit" which just launched its 12th season on NBC; "Law & Order: Criminal Intent" which has been renewed for a tenth and final season on the NBC-owned USA network; the short-lived "Law & Order: Trial By Jury" which lasted just one season, ending in 2006, and the London-based "Law & Order: UK" which is currently in its third season on British television. As its title suggests, "Law & Order: Los Angeles" is set in the City of Angels." The cast includes Skeet Ulrich, Alfred Molina, Terrence Howard, Megan Boone and Regina Hall. In keeping with "L&O's" ripped-from-the-headlines approach to storytelling, tonight's series premiere of "Los Angeles" will find the detectives investigating a rash of burglaries targeting the homes of young celebrities. "Law & Order: Los Angeles" premieres tonight on NBC at 10:00 pm Eastern right after a new episode of "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
