Valuable Church Relic Found in Vermont
(Royalton, VT) -- A valuable church relic missing from a cathedral in Boston has turned up in Vermont. The Catholic artifact is called the "Relic of the True Cross" and is believed to be a small sliver of wood from the cross on which Jesus was crucified. The small piece of wood is contained in a brass case only about two inches in diameter, with a wax seal on the back stamped with the ring of a pope. It had disappeared from Boston's Cathedral of the Holy Cross sometime between June 30th and July 1st. State Police in Vermont say Richard Duncan of Royalton told them his partner Earl Frost had the religious artifact with them and wanted to return it. But, he said he did not steal it, but got it from a third party in Rhode Island. The relic is now back with the church, and a warrant is out for Frost.
