Taylor Swift Earns Another MTV VMA Nomination

Taylor Swift is once again getting recognition from MTV. The county-pop crossover star is among the nominees for the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. Her hit "Fifteen" is a contender for Best Female Video. Swift captured the category at the 2009 VMAs with her hit "You Belong With Me," which was a memorable moment for a variety of reasons. With her win Swift became the first country artist to earn an MTV Moonman. But her time in the spotlight was marred by rapper Kanye West, who interrupted her acceptance to share his belief that Beyonce's "Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It)" should have received the nod. The incident brought Swift even greater mainstream prominence -- even President Obama commented on it. West ended up making multiple public apologies before stepping out of the spotlight for a while.

Swift is once again facing Beyonce in the category. Beyonce is in the running with Lady Gaga for "Video Phone" (Extended Remix). Other nominees include Lady Gaga's "Bad Romance," Kesha's "Tik Tok," and Katy Perry's hit with Snoop Dogg, "California Gurls." Kanye is also up for an award, earning a nomination for Best Hip Hop Video with Drake, Eminem, and Lil Wayne for the song "Forever." The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air September 12th at 9:00 p.m. Eastern on MTV. Fans can vote for their favorites at MTV.com. Balloting in all but one category will close on August 24th. The Best New Artist category will stay open into the live ceremony on September 12th.
