Sammy Kershaw Serving As Honorary Chair For Sean Payton Gala

Sammy Kershaw continues to show his support for the folks in his home state who are struggling following the BP oil spill. The country star has been tapped to be the Honorary Chair for the Black and Gold Gala coming up this fall. New Orleans Saints head coach Sean Payton is behind the event, which raises money for Payton's Play It Forward Foundation. Kershaw says he's glad to be involved, noting, quote, "Sean and I share the same passion for the people of Louisiana and we are willing to do whatever we can to see our state and its people recover from yet another devastating tragedy. I look forward to working together to raise money for those who have been hit the hardest by the oil spill in the GULF." The Black and Gold Gala is set for the New Orleans Superdome on October 1st.

Kershaw's ProtectOurCoastline.org is among the organizations which will benefit from Payton's gala, and Sammy adds that he's, quote, "incredibly grateful" for the support. Other charities benefiting from the gala include Feed the Children and the Dr. Phil Foundation.
