
Sheen was sentenced to 30 days in jail, but Pitkin County District Judge James C. Boyd will suspend Sheen's jail sentence if he can complete his probation, and a 30-day stay at a Promises rehab facility in California. The actor will be able to continue working on CBS' "Two and a Half Men" under the terms of his sentence.
Charlie Sheen was arrested last Christmas after his wife, Brooke Mueller, told police he pulled a knife on her and threatened to have her killed. He was charged with felony menacing, misdemeanor third degree assault, and misdemeanor criminal mischief. By pleading guilty to third degree assault, prosecutors in Aspen agreed to drop the charges of menacing and criminal mischief. Sheen could have spent up to three years behind bars if convicted on all charges.

It looks like a domestic dispute last year between Charlie Sheen and Brooke Mueller is ending in divorce. TMZ.com reports that the couple is in a position to sever marital ties. This, following Sheen's sentencing to 30 days in jail for misdemeanor assault on Monday in Pitkin County, Colorado. TMZ previously reported that the couple signed documents to spell out divorce terms in June. The celebrity website also cites sources who say the dissolution of the marriage was put on hold until Sheen got through the sentencing process.
Sheen and Mueller made headlines after a Christmas Day 2009 incident. The alleged domestic dispute led to an arrest for Sheen and rehab and stress management for Mueller. The couple has two sons together, twin boys Bob and Max.
