"Idol" Chatter: Mariah Carey In, Jennifer Lopez Out?
The "Idol" chatter continues in Hollywood this week. People.com's "TV Watch" blog cited an insider on Wednesday who says that pop star Jennifer Lopez will not join the judges' panel on FOX's "American Idol" for season ten. The unnamed source said, quote, "Her demands got out of hand. FOX had just had enough." Meanwhile, "America's Got Talent" host Nick Cannon said that his famous wife is interested in working for "American Idol." Cannon told "The Hollywood Reporter" that Mariah Carey has talked about joining the judges' panel on the singing show. Cannon said, quote, "She says, 'I would love to do that.' She is one of the greatest singers of our time; she would be great. I don't know if she has enough time...but if they could work with her schedule, I know she would love to do 'Idol.' Let's start the campaign!" Cannon adds that he has a high opinion of outgoing "Idol" judge Simon Cowell. But he says he'll stay devoted to the show without its toughest judge. He says, quote, "As long as Ryan Seacrest and Randy Jackson stick around, I'm watching."
