Judge Revel Quits Lindsay Lohan Case

Judge Marsha Revel is no longer overseeing actress Lindsay Lohan's case. TMZ.com reports that the judge has removed herself amidst allegations that she made improper contact with people involved in the case. Insiders say it was prosecutor Danette Meyers who initiated the move to have Judge Revel removed. Upon learning of Meyers' plans, the judge reportedly stepped down from the case before the prosecutor could file the paperwork last week. Judge Elden Fox is now assigned to the case.

According to TMZ, lawyers complained that Judge Revel had contacted experts and participants in the case without letting them know in advance. Sources say the judge contacted people at Morningside Recovery before announcing her decision to send Lohan to the facility for rehab. Lohan's lawyer managed to persuade Judge Revel to send the actress to UCLA Medical Center, where she's now in treatment.

Judge Revel sentenced Lohan to 90 days in jail and 90 days in rehab in early July. Lohan served two weeks of her jail sentence before she was transferred to rehab on August 2nd.
