Former Eighth Grade Sweethearts Wed At Old School

It's never too late to reconnect with an old love. Such was the case for two former eighth grade sweethearts from Iowa who are now husband and wife. "The Iowa Press-Citizen" reports that Karen Wilcox and Mike Wilson - who first met in 1962 at South East Junior High School in Iowa City - returned to their "alma mater" on Monday to tie the knot in the school's courtyard. Wilcox and Wilson dated in eighth grade and stayed in touch through the years, which included two marriages apiece. Wilcox, now 60, and Wilson, who is 59, met up again last fall after Wilcox's second marriage ended. The reunited couple immediately thought of South East for the ceremony.

There, a small gathering of guests, including two of Wilcox's children, took in the nuptials. Following a two-minute ceremony, the newlyweds headed to a stage in a school room where they danced to "Blue Velvet" as it played on an iPod. It was the same Bobby Vinton track that they'd danced to as teenagers.
