Keith Urban Moved By People's Choice Award

Keith Urban's 2010 is off to a winning start. The singer earned his first People's Choice Award at Wednesday's ceremony, getting the nod in the all-genre Favorite Male Artist category. Urban says he's thrilled to receive such recognition, noting, quote, "Our audiences, during the tour last year, gave us an intense and passionate energy, which was all that we could've asked for. So to begin the New Year with this offering from everyone is truly moving." Urban was tapped for the title from a group of nominees that included Tim McGraw, as well as rapper Eminem, and pop singers John Mayer and Jason Mraz.

For Urban, the People's Choice Awards could just be the beginning of a winning streak. The GRAMMY Awards are coming up later this month, and he's a four-time nominee heading into the event. Urban is in the running for Best Country Album with the CD "Defying Gravity," Best Male Country Vocal Performance with his hit "Sweet Thing," and Best Long Form Music Video for his DVD "Love, Pain & the Whole Crazy Thing;" while he shares a nod for Best Country Collaboration with Brad Paisley for their chart-topper "Start A Band." Watch the 52nd Annual GRAMMY Awards Sunday, January 31st at 8:00 p.m. on CBS TV.
