Singer Jimmy Wayne plans charity walk for homeless

Jimmy Wayne will be starting 2010 on the road -- but not on tour. The singer will launch his "Meet Me Halfway" campaign to help the homeless, and he'll set out on a long solo walk from Nashville to Phoenix, Arizona. Wayne admits that what he's doing is difficult, but notes that what he'll encounter along the way, as he sleeps under the stars on cold nights -- some of which will also be rainy or snowy nights -- is no different from what those who are homeless are forced to face every day. With "Meet Me Halfway" Wayne is hoping to bring attention to the issue and raise money for organizations that help the homeless. He particularly wants to support groups that reach out to at-risk teens and young adults.

Wayne will start his "Meet Me Halfway" walk at 10:00 a.m. local time Friday morning at Nashville's Monroe Harding, which serves both children and young adults in need. From there he'll head west, and walk more than 14-hundred miles to his Phoenix, Arizona destination.
