Shania Twain To Carry Torch For The Winter Olympics

Shania Twain is ready to run. The singer will be carrying the Olympic Torch through her hometown of Timmins, Ontario on New Year's Day as the flame makes its way to Vancouver, British Columbia for the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Discussing the opportunity with "The Timmins Times," Shania called it "an immense honor" to be an Olympic Torch bearer, and anticipated that it's, quote, "certain to be one of the most memorable experiences of my life." Twain is also sharing the experience with her fans. She'll be webcasting her run live online. A post on her website says the streaming video should begin on ShaniaTwain.com Friday evening at approximately 7:00 p.m. Eastern Time.

Twain will take the torch on its final leg through Timmins. In addition, she'll light the Olympic flame cauldron in Timmins' Hollinger Park to mark the completion of the torch's the journey through the city.
