Justin Moore's First Passion - Baseball

Justin Moore is one of country music's breakthrough artists of 2009. But the newcomer, who made his mark this year with the hit "Small Town U.S.A.," admits singing wasn't his first career choice. Moore says he initially had his eye on a career in sports. Moore says he started performing on a more casual basis. He explains that his uncle had a Southern rock band, and he would, quote, "just jump up with them at VFW clubs and that kind of stuff." The singer began to pursue a music career more seriously in 2007. In late 2008 he issued his first single, "Back That Thing Up," which eeked into the Top 40, peaking at number 38. In February of this year "Small Town U.S.A." arrived, and, with the song, Moore's career took off. In October -- eight months after its release -- "Small Town U.S.A." topped the Billboard Country Songs chart. Moore followed with "Backwoods," which is his current single. All three songs are from Moore's self-titled debut album, which arrived in August.
