Autographed Guitars Stolen -- But Not Rascal Flatts'

Should Rascal Flatts be offended? "The Dallas Morning News" says that while Santa Claus delivered gifts last Thursday, thieves broke into a storage unit in Garland, Texas and took a collection of guitars signed by country stars. Friends of Purtis Creek State Park founder Brian Hughes says he spent five years building the collection of autographed instruments, which he was gathering for a fundraiser for the organization. Brad Paisley, Taylor Swift, Trace Adkins, Willie Nelson, and Rascal Flatts were among the stars who scrawled their signatures on the 60 guitars Hughes had. He notes that after the break-in, only the Rascal Flatts guitar remained.

Purtis Creek State Park manager Shawn Green says the theft is "a big blow," explaining, quote, "The guitars are one of the main sources of income for the Friends of the Park. There's a lot of equipment that we have here that was funded by the Friends." Friends of Purtis Creek State Park organizes various activities at the park and helps maintain the area. Hughes says he'll begin rebuilding the collection, and adds that he's, quote, "trying to scrape up a little reward money if somebody returns any of the guitars." Anyone with information about the theft or the guitars' current location is encouraged to notify the Garland, Texas police.
