Patty Loveless Helping In The Fight Against COPD
Patty Loveless is earning new recognition -- but not for her music. The singer is the winner of the first leg of the DRIVE4COPD "'Race for the Missing Millions," a campaign to help people possibly at risk for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, or COPD, get health screenings. Loveless' participation included visiting cities from Daytona, Florida to Chicago, and attracting followers via Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and YouTube. Her efforts resulted in nearly six-thousand people getting checked. Loveless says she was pleased to help out, noting that the disease has touched her personally.
She explains, quote, "I met hundreds of people along my route and it seems like nearly everyone knows someone with COPD. It meant a lot to me to hear their stories and share my memories of my sister who struggled for years with emphysema, a form of COPD." For more information about the campaign. visit DRIVE4COPD.com.
