There's additional evidence that many pet owners consider "Fido" and "Fluffy" a member of the family. According to a poll by the floor care and cleaning giant BISSEL Homecare, nearly 60-percent of those with animals in the home admit that their pet is more likely than their significant other to greet them at the door with a kiss. And many owners intend to express their gratitude for this affection during the holiday season. Nearly 50-percent note they'll be giving "Spot" or "Tiger" a gift, while 23-percent say they'll sign their pets' name or include the animal's photo in holiday greeting cards.Regarding pet presents, the number of people who say there'll be something for "Mr. Barker" or "Miss Meowington" under the tree jumps significantly in a Pet Supplies "Plus" survey. In what's described as a, quote, "shamelessly unscientific survey of 14-hundred-and-12 pet owners," 96-percent say they're going to give their pets gifts -- again -- and more than half of the respondents note they'll be spending more money on their animal this year, than they did in 2008. In addition, these pet owners put some thought into their pet present. Sixty-percent say they have a harder time finding the right gift for their four-legged friend than they do other family members.
