ABC News is tapping George Stephanopoulos as the co-anchor of "Good Morning America," replacing Diane Sawyer. Sawyer is taking over the anchor role at ABC "World News" with the retirement of Charlie Gibson. Along with the daily morning show duties, Stephanopoulos is likely to remain as the host of the Sunday morning political talk show "This Week." He will team with current co-host Robin Roberts on "Good Morning America" starting on December 14. The show is the second most-watched morning news program in the country, trailing "Today" on NBC. Before venturing into TV, Stephanopoulos served as a political adviser to President Clinton. He has co-hosted coverage on ABC of political events.
