In a statement released on Thanksgiving during the Oakland Raiders-Dallas Cowboys game, the league officially announced the Brit rock veterans as its pick for the Bridgestone Super Bowl 44 Halftime Show. The gig puts the Hall of Famers in front of a wide projected audience, as the event airs in 230 countries and territories. In 2009, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band's halftime jam garnered more than 151-million viewers in the U.S. alone. In honor of their new halftime status, The Who has announced a commemorative T-shirt for fans available at its website www.thewho.com. Super Bowl 44 will air from Miami's Dolphins Stadium on CBS on February 7th.The Who now joins an illustrious list of rock legends to play the Super Bowl halftime show, including Springsteen, Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers, U2, Paul McCartney, and The Rolling Stones.
