Perry Returns To Small Screen With "Mr. Sunshine" Tonight

Matthew Perry's making a return to series television tonight with the premiere of "Mr. Sunshine" on ABC. The single-camera comedy stars Perry as Ben, the disillusioned manager of a San Diego sports and entertainment arena called The Sunshine Center. As Ben navigates a mid-life crisis surrounding his 40th birthday, he must stay on top of his job and keep his co-workers happy. Allison Janney co-stars as Ben's eccentric boss, Crystal. Nate Torrence, Andrea Anders, and James Lesure co-star. Jamie Tarses and Thomas Schlamme are among the show's producers. Schlamme was a showrunner and director on Perry's last small screen outing, the NBC drama "Studio 60 On the Sunset Strip."

With the premiere of "Mr. Sunshine" at 9:30 p.m Eastern tonight, Perry will temporarily displace one of his TV "friends." The show's mid-season debut is airing in the timeslot typically occupied by "Cougar Town," starring Perry's former "Friends" co-star Courteney Cox.
