Minnesota Woman Donates Her Kidney To Fiance

(St. Cloud, MN) -- A Minnesota woman is donating one of her kidneys to her fiance. The "St. Cloud Times" newspaper says Amy Anderson and Ron Spanier are celebrating this Valentine's Day in anticipation of his kidney transplant on Tuesday at a Minneapolis hospital. Spanier has a genetic disorder that can lead to kidney failure. The couple met in August 2009 and got engaged over the holidays. Spanier says he never expected his bride-to-be to donate her kidney, but Anderson proved to be the best donor match when tested.
