Man Arrested After Mascot Attacked

(Hartford, CT) -- A Connecticut man is in trouble with the law for allegedly attacking a hockey team's mascot. Kevin O'Connell of East Hartford is accused of punching and tackling "Pucky the Whale" during a Saturday night game at the XL Center in Hartford. "Pucky" is the Connecticut Whale's mascot and other fans at the game helped break up the scene. Security managed to take O'Connell into custody when he was found hiding in another area of the arena. Police say they were told by O'Connell that he made a bet with a friend and then tackled the mascot. Nobody was hurt but O'Connell is facing second degree breach of peace charges.
