Larry Hagman To Reprise J.R. Ewing Role On TNT's "Dallas"

J.R. Ewing is returning to the small screen. Larry Hagman has signed on to reprise his role as the notorious Texas tycoon on TNT. The cable network is rebooting the classic 1980s melodrama "Dallas" with original stars Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray on board. The new "Dallas" project has been in the discussion stages for a while now with suggestions that it might go on without Hagman. Reports said the 79-year-old actor had been holding out for more money to play the role that made him famous the world over. But with its principal character now in place, the show will go on as planned. The original "Dallas" ran from 1978 to 1991 on CBS, reaching a fever pitch in popularity in 1980 with the promotional catch phrase "Who Shot J.R.?"

TNT's reboot of "Dallas" will reportedly revolve around the fortunes and rivalries among the next generation of Southfork's oil-rich Ewing family. Actor Josh Henderson has been cast as J.R.'s son, John Ross Ewing, and actress Jordana Brewster will play a love interest for two Ewing cousins. No word yet on when TNT will begin production on the new "Dallas."
