James Cameron Tops "Vanity Fair" Hollywood Rich List

As director of the highest-grossing film of all time, it should come as no surprise that "Avatar" filmmaker James Cameron was also the highest earning movie maker in Hollywood last year. A new "Vanity Fair" survey shows Cameron earned an estimated 257-million-dollars for writing, producing and directing the 3-D movie blockbuster. "Avatar" also grossed almost two-Billion-dollars at the worldwide box office and Cameron collected on DVD and pay-TV sales of the film. Following Cameron in a distant second place is Johnny Depp who earned 100-million-dollars for his work in the films "Alice In Wonderland" and "Tourist," as well as advance payments for his upcoming role in "Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides."

Director Steven Spielberg landed a third place finish with 80-million-dollars in earnings from Universal theme park royalties, consulting fees and his upcoming movie "War Horse." "Inception" director Christopher Nolan placed fourth with 71-point-five-million in earnings, while "Inception" star Leonardo DiCaprio took the number five spot with 62-million-dollars in earnings last year.
