Shania Earns Induction Into Canadian Music Hall Of Fame

Shania Twain has a new honor heading her way. The newly wed singer has been tapped for induction into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame. Canadian Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences President and CEO Melanie Berry says Shania has certainly earned the recognition, explaining, quote, "Shania Twain revolutionized the look and sound of country music, and truly is one of the most accomplished and celebrated music artists of her era. Her authenticity as a songwriter and performer has made her a global powerhouse, and we're so proud to honor her at home in the Canadian Music Hall of Fame." Shania will be formally added to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame during the 2011 Juno Awards, taking place in Ottawa, Ontario on March 27th. The singer tied the knot with Frederic Thiebaud in Puerto Rico on New Year's Day.

Since launching her career in the early 1990s, Shania has gone on to become one of the best selling artists of all time. Her 1997 album "Come On Over" is the best-selling album by a solo female artist, with more than 20-million copies sold in the U.S. alone. The 16-track disc yielded 12 singles -- all of which became top ten hits with seven that went to number one. Her other CDs have also attained Platinum or multi-Platinum success. Shania has also earned numerous awards over the course of her career, including GRAMMYs, Juno Awards, ACM, CMA, CMT, and Canadian Country Music Awards.
