Rose Bowl Coverage Sets Cable Ratings Record

ESPN is posting some rosy ratings results following the Rose Bowl matchup between Texas Christian University and Wisconsin on New Year's Day. According to Nielsen, the college football game, which saw TCU defeat Wisconsin, 21-19, delivered an eleven-point-seven overnight rating to set a new record for the sports network and for all of cable television. ESPN's Saturday night coverage of the Fiesta Bowl also delivered big ratings for the network. That game, which saw Oklahoma claim victory over Connecticut, 48-20, won the night among all programs -- broadcast and cable -- with a six-point-seven rating. ESPN will continue coverage of the BCS matchups today with the Orange Bowl and on Tuesday with the Sugar Bowl. The BCS National Championship Game will air on the cable network on Monday, January 10th.
