In the battle for ratings supremacy among New Year's Eve specials, a perennial favorite is emerging as a big winner. Other network specials were just no match for ABC's presentation of "Dick Clark's Primetime New Year's Rockin' Eve with Ryan Seacrest 2011." The special helped the network to a number one finish on Friday evening -- the final TV night of 2010 -- drawing five-point-two-million viewers to land its biggest audience in three years. Dick Clark's closest competitor, NBC's "New Year's Eve with Carson Daly," drew three-point-nine-million viewers, according to Nielsen TV ratings.
ABC got an early lead in the New Year's Eve ratings race with its broadcast of the movie "Wild Hogs." Coupled with the Dick Clark special, the network ended 2010 at the top of the ratings heap with six-point-seven-million in Total Viewers. CBS was second overall with six-point-two-million viewers, followed by NBC in third place with three-point-eight million.
