Montgomery Gentry Launch USO Tour, Eddie Montgomery Declared Cancer-Free

Montgomery Gentry is back in action. Eddie Montgomery and Troy Gentry said in a website post early Sunday morning, quote, "It's 3am, and time to head out on our second USO trip. We have a 15 hr flight to South Korea ahead of us, then a bunch of American Heroes to meet and play concerts for. Keep checking back for updates! See ya on the other side of the world!!" The duo's USO tour follows Friday's appearance on the Grand Ole Opry, which was their first public performance of 2011. CMT.com says Montgomery Gentry will visit U.S. bases in Japan as well as South Korea on their eight-day USO trek.

Montgomery Gentry's departure overseas also comes amid word that Eddie is now cancer free. Montgomery announced late last year that he had been diagnosed with prostate cancer. He had surgery in December to remove the tumor, which has been deemed "successful." Dr. Thomas Kirk Slabaugh Jr. says, quote, "His cancer was completely excised, and he will not require further treatment for his prostate cancer in the future." The doctor adds that Eddie "benefited greatly" from learning of his condition early on.
