Charlie Daniels is mourning the death of a one-time member of his band. Guitarist Tommy Crain, who was part of the Charlie Daniels Band from 1975 through 1989, passed away last Thursday. He was 59. Charlie remembers Tommy in a statement, saying, quote, "Tommy Crain will always be a part of the CDB family and his music will always be a part of the CDB sound. We have lost a good friend and the world has lost a unique, creative and precious human being. We send our deepest condolences to the family of our brother Tommy Crain. You were special, buddy. We're gonna miss you."
Crain played on many Charlie Daniels Band albums, including their biggest CD "Million Miles Reflections," which features the hit "The Devil Went Down To Georgia." Tommy left the group to devote himself to his family, which included raising his daughter and supporting his wife as she pursued her career in equestrian endurance riding. Plans for a memorial are in the works.
