Sara Evans and her husband are trying to make a difference for some sick children. Alabama's "The Birmingham News" notes the country star and husband Jay Barker gave the Birmingham's Children's Hospital a check for 25-thousand-dollars in a special presentation on Tuesday. The funds came from their participation in the 2010 Regions Charity Classic golf tournament, which took place in May, as well as the upcoming Regions Tradition event. They each waived their appearance fees, and chose to donate the money to the medical facility.
Barker, who's a talk show host for a Birmingham radio station, said he and Evans enjoy taking part in charity events, but noted it's even more meaningful to them to know what they're doing will help children in need. He explained, quote, "With seven kids, we know what it means for the families. Hopefully this gift today will make a difference." Evans also sang during the celebration, turning in a rendition of "Happy Birthday" for two patients turning a year older this week.
