Michigan Man Faces Jail Time For Reading Wife's E-Mails

A Michigan man is headed to court on a criminal case involving his now ex-wife's e-mail account. "The Detroit Free Press" reports that Rochester Hills resident Leon Walker is facing up to five years in prison on charges that he read personal e-mails addressed to his spouse while the couple was married. Prosecutors in Oakland County, Michigan are charging Walker under a statute that typically applies to identity theft or other "cyber crimes." Walker allegedly used his wife Clara's password to read her e-mails in an attempt to confirm that she was having an affair. The couple has since divorced, but Leon's legal battle is just beginning. The 33-year-old will go to trial on the e-mail charges on February 7, 2011. Experts weighing in on the matter say it may be hard for the prosecution to prove Walker's actions.
