Alan Jackson is getting a special honor at the upcoming American Country Awards. The veteran singer has been tapped to receive the Greatest Hits Award at the inaugural ceremony. The prize recognizes his chart-topping success and lasting legacy in country music. ACA Executive Producer Bob Bain says he's glad to be giving Jackson the special attention, noting the singer-songwriter, quote, "is the consummate hit maker whose countless number of chart-topping songs can be heard every day on radio stations across the country. Jackson has written and performed many of country music's most recognizable songs and it only seemed fitting that he receive the inaugural award." Jackson has 15 studio albums and 58 singles to his credit. Only nine of his singles didn't hit the top ten on the chart, while 35 have gone to number one. Jackson will be presented with the special award at the American Country Awards ceremony, taking place in Las Vegas and airing on FOX on December 6th.
The ACA recognition is the latest in a string of special honors Jackson has earned this year as he's marked his 20th anniversary as a recording artist. At ASCAP's 48th annual Country Music Award in September Jackson received the performing right's organization's Founders Award for his songwriting. In addition, in April Jackson was honored with the two-thousand-405th [[ 2,405th ]] star to be placed on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
