MAJORITY OF WORKING AMERICANS GETTING PAID TIME OFF FOR THANKSGIVING
The majority of American workers will be getting paid on Thanksgiving. According to BNA's annual year-end holiday survey, 98-percent of businesses have designated Thanksgiving Day a paid holiday, with 74-percent also making the Friday after Thanksgiving a paid holiday. Just under 30-percent of employees will still have to clock in on the holiday, but nearly two-thirds of those workers will see something extra in their paychecks for their efforts. Those working for larger companies are more likely to have to work on the holiday. Nearly 80-percent of the bosses whose companies have less than one-thousand employees say they're shutting down for the full four-day weekend, while just 59-percent of the businesses with more than a thousand people on the payroll are also giving everyone all four days off. Those most likely to have to work over the Thanksgiving weekend are in security and public safety jobs as well as service and maintenance positions.
