Deer Ruins Runner's Race To The Finish
A close encounter with Mother Nature has kept one Wisconsin high school athlete from competing for a state title. The "Appleton Post-Crescent" is reporting that Sarah Glidden had just 100 meters left in her four-thousand meter run when a deer bolted from the woods and ran into her last month. The Hortonville High School sophomore wasn't injured, but the incident did slow Glidden down and prevent her from qualifying for the WIAA state meet. Despite her bad luck, Glidden is taking the episode in stride. She jokes, quote, "Hunters want me to go with them because they say I'm a magnet for deer."
