Conan O'Brien's Debut Tops "Tonight Show"

Score round one for Conan O'Brien. The former "Tonight Show" host triumphed over Jay Leno on Monday night with the debut of his new late-night talk show on TBS. "Conan" was watched by four-point-one-million viewers, finishing ahead of the Jay Leno-led "Tonight Show" which attracted three-point-six-million viewers. O'Brien also proved his appeal to the younger demographic, as approximately two-point-four-million of his viewers fell between the ages of 18 and 34. Conan O'Brien famously left "The Tonight Show" back in January after he refused to move the show to midnight to make room for a new Jay Leno project. O'Brien's departure cleared the way for Leno to return to "The Tonight Show" to continue his hosting duties.
