Actor Leslie Nielsen Dead At Age 84

Acting legend Leslie Nielsen is dead. The Canadian-born star died of complications of pneumonia on Sunday in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, according to his agent. He was 84 years old. Nielsen was well-known to audiences worldwide for his comedic work in the 1980 film "Airplane!" and the television series and films of "The Naked Gun" franchise. Born on February 11th, 1926 in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, Nielsen got his first entertainment job as a disc jockey in Calgary, Alberta following a stint in the military. He went on to study at Toronto's Academy of Radio Arts before taking acting classes. Acting took him "south of the border" to New York City. Nielsen made his TV debut in an episode of "Studio One" in 1948. The actor and comedian later took small screen roles on such shows as "The Man From U.N.C.L.E.," "M*A*S*H," and "Hawaii Five-O." Along with "Airplane!" and "The Naked Gun" films, Nielsen's movie credits include the 1982 horror anthology "Creepshow" and the 1972 disaster film, "The Poseidon Adventure."
