Supervisors Want To Remove Toys From Happy Meals

(San Francisco, CA) -- McDonald's could soon be selling "Unhappy Meals" at its San Francisco outlets. One member of the Board of Supervisors wants to do away with toys and other goodies contained in Happy Meals, saying it's encouraging bad heath. Eric Mar isn't happy about the toys used by some restaurants to entice children to eat what may not be the healthiest of foods. He's proposed legislation prohibiting any "incentive item" to accompany food if the food contains excessive calories, sodium or fat. An incentive item is defined as any toy, game, trading card, admission ticket or other consumer product. Enforcement of the legislation would be up to the Department of Public Health.
