Report: Pacino, Pesci Rumored To Join Scorsese's "Irishman"

Some of Martin Scorsese's repeat collaborators are rumored to be joining the cast of his upcoming film, "The Irishman." Deadline.com reports that Oscar-winners Al Pacino and Joe Pesci are in the mix for the crime drama based on a memoir by mob hitman, Frank "The Irishman" Sheeran. Sheeran's book "I Heard You Paint Houses" is in development with Tribeca Films, the production company run by another Scorsese "regular," Robert DeNiro. Among the projects that DeNiro's acted in for the Queens-born director are "Cape Fear," "The King of Comedy," and "Casino." Scorsese's previous work with Pacino includes "Heat," which also featured DeNiro. Pesci's appeared in Scorsese's "Casino," "Raging Bull" and the movie that earned him a Best Supporting Actor Oscar, "Goodfellas."

In related news, Scorsese's new TV series "Boardwalk Empire" will debut on HBO this Sunday. The series is set in Atlantic City, New Jersey circa 1920.
