Alan Jackson To Be Honored At ASCAP Country Awards

Alan Jackson is being recognized for his composition skills. He's set to receive the Founders Award at the 48th annual ASCAP Country Music Awards. The prize is one of the performing rights organization's highest honors. ASCAP President and Chairman Paul Williams says Jackson has earned the nod, noting, quote, "Alan is one of the most prolific and influential artists in country music. He has consistently topped the charts without compromising his artistry, style and love of tradition, captivating millions with songs that are honest, heartfelt and entertaining. He's a genuine superstar, and we are very proud to honor him with ASCAP's Founders Award." The event also acknowledges the songwriters and publishers behind ASCAP's most played country songs between April 1st, 2009 and March 31st of this year. The ASCAP 48th annual Country Music Awards will take place in Nashville tonight.

Jackson has 15 studio albums to his credit, along with more than 50 singles -- including 34 chart-toppers. Some of his self-penned number ones include "Don't Rock the Jukebox," "Chattahoochie," "Where I Come From," "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)," "Remember When," and "Country Boy."
