Taylor Swift Earns Induction Into Bowling Hall Of Fame
Taylor Swift is getting yet another award -- but this one has nothing to do with music. The country-pop crossover sensation is being recognized for her bowling, and for keeping the sport cool. She's been tapped for induction into the International Bowling Museum and Hall of Fame. For the first time inductees for the museum's Celebrity Hall of Fame was put to a public vote, and it was a very close race between Swift and teen pop star Justin Bieber. But Swift got the nod, receiving 613-thousand-324 votes compared to Bieber's 608-thousand-15 votes. The official results are in the August 23rd issue of "OK! Magazine."
The Bowling Proprietors' Association of America's Executive Director Steve Johnson notes, quote, "In many ways Taylor Swift perfectly represents the current face of bowling, especially as the sport enjoys unprecedented growth in popularity among youth, women and young adults." He adds, quote, "We are tremendously proud to welcome Ms. Swift as our celebrity inductee into the Hall of Fame and we extend our deepest congratulations to her and the hundreds of thousands of fans who cast votes on her behalf." Nearly one-point-three-million-votes were cast in the international poll. Votes came in from all 50 U.S. states as well as 113 different countries.
